According to the Tender Board website, bids will open on Monday December 9

The installation of the radar system will be one of the last components in the airport’s expansion, with the project set to be complete by the end of 2013 and commissioning and testing of all facilities and equipment to commence by early 2014.

Salalah Airport’s expansion plans aim to increase the airport’s capacity to one million passengers per year in its first phase, with two million passengers targeted for the second phase and six million in the third phase.

The project will allow the airport to facilitate the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, due to an extension of the runway to 4,000 metres long and an upgrade to International Air Transport Association (IATA) levels of service. Salalah Airport’s car parking capacity will also increase to 2,000.
